Asparagus crowns

For the past 50 years Beeren Plantproducts asparagus crowns have been grown in the best possible conditions.

Our soils are carefully selected and analysed to ensure our crowns are grown disease free with optimum growth. All of our asparagus crowns are grown in virgin soil. Before seeds are sown soils are tested for various diseases such as ‘Fusarium Oxysporum’, ‘AM’ and a wide range of nematodes.  From this stage until delivery the production process is controlled by the independent Dutch Inspection Service for Horticulture ’NAKtuinbouw’.

Our crowns are freshly harvested, short before delivery, each day. We grade the asparagus crowns to two different grading weights: B grade: 40 to 70 grams and AA grade: 70 grams plus. A good crown and a good well developed root system is very important.

Varieties

Beeren Plantproducts produces all the important varieties from the leading breeding companies, both for green and white asparagus. The following hybrid varieties are currently available. From the Dutch breeding company Limseeds we cultivate Avalim F1, Backlim F1, Grolim F1, Gijnlim F1, Herkolim F1, Thielim F1, Vitalim F1 and Xenolim F1. Primaverde F1 is from the French breeding company Vilmorin. The varieties Cumulus F1 and Magnus F1 are from Bejo.
