International Asparagus Demoday

12-05-2012 The International Asparagus Demoday will be held for the third time. This year on a new location at the farms from Sjon and Rob van den Beucken, both good customers of Beeren Plantproducts. On this day there will be a lot of demonstrations of (automatic) harvesting, new sprayingtechniques, peeling demonstrations and much more. A day full of practical demonstrations for the professional asparagus grower.

Beeren Plantproducts will also be there with our trade stand. The day will be held on Tuesday 26th of June between 14.00 and 20.00 hours. We hope to meet you there! Please find more information on www.aspergedag.nl.

 


First asparagus crowns lifted

03-03-2012 The first asparagus crowns are lifted! On the last day of February we lifted our first crowns. De first crowns will go to France and Greece. On the same time the first growers in the Netherlands and Belgium started to plant in their glasshouses. The crowns look very healty and vigorous. The weight of the plants is also good.

 


First leek plants drilled

01-03-2012 On Thursday March 1 our first leek plants were drilled. The circumstances were very good. The soil was prepared very well and the first spring sunshine peeked out. Summarized we have very good growing conditions for our first early leek plants under polytheen tunnels.


Leek Growers' Agronomy Day

28-01-2012 The 2012 Leek Variety Field Trails and Agronomy Day will be held in Downham Market, United Kingdom, on the 15th February. There will be different lectures in the morning, in the afternoon there is the possibility to view the variety trails in the field. In the farm buildings will be trade stands from companies involved in the leek business. Beeren Plantproducts is also present with our own trade stand. We invite you to visit our trade stand! First strawberry plants lifted

01-12-2011 The conditions on our nursery fields with strawberry plants are perfect. Last week we started lifting, grading and packing our waitingbed plants. Because of the good weather in September and October the plants have a very good size and good developed root system.

 


Interesting trade show in Karlsruhe

26-11-2011 Last week Beeren Plantproducts was present on the ExpoSE in Karlsruhe, Germany. ExpoSE is the trade show for the professional asparagus and strawberry grower in Europe. The number of visitors was higher than the last years and the atmosphere was very good. Our next trade show will be in Hannover, Germany on the 11th and 12th of January 2012.

 


Visit German asparagus advisors

14-09-2011 On Thursday 14 September our nursery welcomed a group of German asparagus advisors. These advisors, specialized in asparagus, came from all over Germany. Every year there are several information days organised by the "Arbeitskreis der Bundesfachgruppe Gemusebau". After a short introduction we visited different nursery fields. We also visited some new plantations of asparagus. We ended this afternoon with a lunch.

 


Strawberry plants planted!

13-08-2011 We planted our last strawberry plants on Saturday 13th of August. The waitingbed plants were planted right according our schedule and now have the change to develop. We hope for good growing conditions the next months. From the middle of November these plants will be lifted again. After being graded and packed the plants will be stored in our own cool stores.

 


Leek plants ready for lifting

13-05-2011 Thanks to the good spring weather we are happy to tell that our first tunnel plants are almost ready to harvest. The plants are uniform, healthy and have a good length and thickness. We expect to start lifting our first leek plants in the beginning of week 21! 


UK asparagus growers trip 2011

13-03-2011  On Friday March 11 and Saturday March 12 Beeren Plantproducts organised a UK asparagus grower trip together with PG Horticulture. With a group of 8 asparagus growers from the UK we visited different companies involved in the asparagus business. We visited for example Limseeds, Christiaens Agro Systems and Engels Machines. We gained a lot of information and during our discussions we discussed different things about asparagus. Summarized it was a very interesting and instructive trip.
